Austek draws on a wide experience and knowledge of the Communications Industry
Our capabilities extend from small projects, through to full project management

Austek is an entirely Australian owned and operated company overseen by Bryan Mitchell, which was established in 1988 to supply, repair and install communications equipment.

Our scope of services included the design and implementation of communications systems for land and marine industries, government and semi-government enterprises, specialising in remote installations.

Since 2005 we have expanded our activities to undertake major industrial electrical, SCADA, automation and waste/water management and related projects.

Our capabilities

Our capabilities include engineering and project management across the design and implementation of control systems including the RTU hardware, SCADA software, radio and telemetry communications networks and associated electrical works.

We service all areas of North Queensland, from Townsville to the Torres Straits. Our head office is in Cairns and is a fully equipped facility with service and manufacturing workshops staffed by experienced electrical, radio and fabrication technicians. All technical personnel have had an extensive involvement in a variety of projects, both large and small, in many parts of Queensland.

Quality assurance

Austek utilises a custom designed, enterprise management software package, providing essential customer information, service history and technical product information.

This system has been specifically developed to streamline workshop practices with a focus on quality assurance and excellent customer service.

Cultural

Austek is committed to the development of Cultural Heritage Management Plans, to assess whether a project will have any impact on Aboriginal cultural heritage values and, as appropriate, outline management recommendations.

All reasonable and practicable measures shall be taken by Austek staff to ensure infrastructure activity does not harm Aboriginal and Torres Islander cultural heritage, including appropriate consultation with the relevant stakeholders and acceptance of a site-specific Cultural Heritage Assessment Plan.

Safety

Austek has a strong commitment to the continual improvement of our environmental, health and safety performance. We strive to operate an incident and accident-free worksite, whilst being environmentally responsible.

To this end, Austek has developed and adopted a comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) with the aim of minimising and, where possible, eliminating OH&S risks. An integral part of the SMS is the use of Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) and similar tools to develop specific safety and environmental processes for each worksite in which we operate. Specific SWMS documents will be utilised for the actual & various scopes of work.

Environment

At Austek we aim to achieve continual environmental improvement by implementing a management system with objectives and targets to minimise our environmental footprint. We achieve this by working with staff and other stakeholders with pollution prevention practices in compliance with legal and other requirements.

Our environmental management system applies to all operations and services of the Company at its head office and on-site works. Staff are at all times expected to comply with the spirit of this policy in the context of the organisation in which they work. We strive to be a role model for others to follow.
